Pass Plus
The Pass Plus scheme can cover a variety of driving situations, such as night driving, motorway driving, and driving in bad weather. It is not mandatory but highly recommended by the government to improve the driving skills of new drivers and reduce the number of accidents on the road. As a retired police officer, Dougie Gibbons would have first-hand knowledge of the dangers on the road and would be able to teach his students how to be safe and responsible drivers.
In addition to improving driving skills and reducing the number of accidents on the road, completing the Pass Plus scheme can also lead to a reduction in car insurance payments for new drivers. Many insurance companies offer discounts to drivers who have completed the Pass Plus scheme as it demonstrates a commitment to safe driving and a willingness to go above and beyond the minimum requirements for new drivers.
South Lanarkshire council has a grant available for new drivers. Information can be found here.
